Another light agenda ended the Jasper County Board of Supervisors meeting in less than five minutes Tuesday morning. Besides approving the board of supervisors minutes, there were only two items for the supervisors to address.
Nick Fratzke, director of community development for Jasper County, presented two rezoning requests, both of which received unanimous approval from the Jasper County Zoning Commission, which had voted 4-0 in favor of the rezoning.
The first rezoning request was for David Ditzler of A&D Rentals, LLC, whose property adjoins to the Oakland Acres Country Club in Grinnell. Rezoning the land from an A classification to a C classification will allow Ditzler to operate a commercial storage unit facility in the 1.37-acre section.
Doug Cupples, vice-chair of the board of supervisors, asked Fratzke if there was any feedback from citizens who live near the property. A part of the process, Fratzke said, is sending notifications to all adjoining landowners.
“Anybody that did reach out to me was in favor of it,” Fratzke said. “No red flags. Everything went through the Board of Adjustment well.”
The second rezoning request was for Derek Webb, who asked to have his 4 net acres of property rezoned from A to RR to allow the potential for one single-family residence.
The Jasper County Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 to approve both rezoning requests.
Dennis Simon, human resources director of Jasper County, presented a hiring resolution for a skilled laborer position in the secondary roads department to be filled by Darin Wing. The new hire, which is replacing another individual, will receive a pay rate of $21.81 to be effective July 1. The supervisors voted 3-0 to approve the hiring resolution.
