Attitudes on immigration

The immigration of illegal aliens situation makes an interesting contrast in attitudes on how to deal with it.

Some want the old ways which Obama advocated. Crossing the border for asylum, then a judicial process to determine if they qualify. Others advocate that crossing the border is illegal, plain and simple. No wiggle room. Guilty.

The majority of illegal aliens are here because of hardship, hunger, violence, rape, murder, terrible living conditions, etc. But President Trump’s answer is to make their hardship harder. Separate families, make living facilities unbearable, etc. His solution is a merit system. But is illegality (unlawfulness) really plain and simple?

In Matthew 12:1-8 Jesus gives examples that it is not. He concludes that He desires mercy. Mercy — unmerited forgiveness. There is a movie called “Hombre.” A few quotes near the end “We need to deal with people out of need and not merit.” And “If nobody lifted a finger to help unless they were deserving, we would all go to hell.”

With what Jesus said in Matthew 25:31-46, it may be literally true.
