Scratch Curbside rolls into Newton Thursday

Scratch Curbside rolled its delicious cupcakes into Newton Thursday.

Scratch Cupcakery, which originated in Cedar Falls, has its own delivery van with the slogan “Chase The Cupcakes” on the back. The sight had local residents and other cupcake lovers rushing to the parking lot of Family Video, 308 First Ave. E.

The Curbside portion of the Scratch Cupcakery makes its way across Illinois and Iowa offering delicious sweets to residents. Whether they are getting some for themselves or taking them home for their spouses or children, local residents were excited for the tasty treats.

“I might get one or two for me, too,” George Shook of Newton said about being there to get some for his wife.

Some Newton Park Centre staff members made sure to get some of the cupcakes during the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. time slot the van was here.

“I sent everyone a memo that said ‘FYI Scratch Cupcakes are here tomorrow,’” Darla Sudbrink of Newton said.

Cupcakes and sweet treats really have a way at making people happy especially on a warm day.

“They are very good, Susan Lammey of Colfax said. “They are excellent,”
