KALONA — Three of Prairie City-Monroe’s girls golfers improved their 18-hole season averages by a total of 18 strokes, and the improvement helped push the Mustangs to the final round of Class 2A Region 4.
PCM advanced through the first round on Monday after shooting a 411. That was one shot back of host Mid Prairie, which fired a 410 at Kalona Golf Course.
Davis County also advanced as the third place team after shooting a 436.
The Mustangs were led by Alexis Dross and Mack Bussan, who both shot a 101. Dross finished third overall, while Bussan came in fourth. Allison Wood took sixth with a 102, and the final counting score was Brooke Dross’ 107.
Bussan shot a 48 on the front nine, Alexis Dross shot a 49 on the front nine and Wood carded a 49 on the back side.
Alexis Dross and Wood were both eight shots better than their season averages.
Gabbi Van Baale (109) and Kaydee Fowler (169) had non-counting scores.
Mid Prairie’s Abbi Patterson and Abby Statler took medalist and runner-up medalist honors with a 99 and 100, respectively.
The 2A Region 4 final is at 10 a.m. on May 20 in Pleasantville.
