Sunbonnet Questers
The Sunbonnet Chapter of Questers met May 9 at the home of Bonnie Rasmussen. President Susan Grigsby conducted the meeting.
Jeannette Shannon installed the officers for the next year. They are as follows: Susan Grigsby, president; Lois Vogel, vice-president; Bonnie Rasmussen, secretary; and Charlotte Townsend, historian. Judy Swenson, treasurer, was unable to attend the meeting.
Susan reported that four members attended the recent Questers State Day meeting in Mason City. They enjoyed visiting several historic homes in the area and meeting other Questers there.
A request for volunteers, from the chapter, to help with the Preserve Iowa Conference to be held in Newton was shared by our president. The conference will be held in conjunction with Newton Fest, June 6 and 7. The volunteer needs and times will be emailed to members. The $150 donation to the Newton Historic Preservation Committee will be used to purchase plaques to identify historic buildings on the square. These will be in place for Newton Fest.
The evening’s program was unique in that Charlotte Townsend brought several magazines and periodicals from the public library. Members chose an article on a collectible of interest to them to give a “mini” lesson on their item of interest.
The 45th anniversary of the founding of our chapter will be celebrated at our next meeting June 14.
