Misbehaving Women of Iowa

6 p.m. Monday — It’s been said that well-behaved women seldom make history. Iowa has plenty of women who made history by behaving in uncommon ways, but their accomplishment have been overlooked or ignored. Author Cheryl Mullenbach has uncovered the stories of some of the state’s most intriguing women and invites you to meet these heroic, amusing, and nervy personalities. This event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration required.

U.S. Cellular

6 p.m. Wednesday — Do you have questions about your phone or mobile device? Here’s your opportunity to ask an expert. Join Premier Locations U.S. Cellular for a drop-in workshop on using your mobile device. This program is free to attend and is open to the public. Attendees do not need to be U.S. Cellular customers. U.S. Cellular goods and services will not be available for purchase at this program.

Teen Book Club

1 p.m. Thursday — Join our new teen book club. Stop by the library to pick up your copy of the book and register to attend the meeting. We will discuss “Smile” by Raina Telgemeier in March. Light refreshments will be provided. Attendees may bring ideas for other books they would like to read in upcoming months. Grades 6 and above.

Tuesday Tea with Austen

10 a.m. March 26 — Join our Jane Austen book club for a discussion of “Persuasion.” Copies of the book may be requested at the library information desk or by calling 641-792-4108. Tea and light refreshments will be served. New members always welcome.

Bibliophile Book Club

1 p.m. March 27 — Join our new library book club for a discussion of “Caroline: Little House, Revisited” by Sarah Miller. Request your copy of the book at the information desk or by calling the library at 641-792-4108. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. New members welcome.

Paint Along Class

6 p.m. April 4 — Artist, Kirsten Warrick leads a step-by-step painting class for adults. Attendees are encouraged to bring an apron, all other materials provided. This event requires a free ticket to attend. You may pick up your ticket at the library circulation desk on April 4th, beginning at 5:30 pm. Participants must be present to claim a ticket. Age 18 and older.

Yoga at the Library

Monday, April 8 – 6:00 pm

Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis leads an introductory class for adults. No experience necessary. Attendees may bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This class is sponsored by the Newton YMCA and is free to attend. Call the library at 641-792-4108 to register.
