Five of the top six scoring leaders on Colfax-Mingo’s girls’ basketball team were seniors. Three of those Tigerhawks were recognized with all-conference honors recently.
Payton Rhone led the deep senior class with a second-team honor, while Jordan Atwood and Delaney Underwood were both honorable mention picks.
The Tigerhawks were 3-17 overall and 1-13 in South Iowa Cedar League play during Jeff Clemens’ one and only season as head coach. Clemens resigned from his post after the regular season.
Rhone led Colfax-Mingo in scoring for the second straight season. She averaged 12.2 points per game while making 47 shots from 3-point range and connecting on 35 percent of the 3-pointers she took. Rhone also made 76 percent from the free-throw line.
Rhone also averaged 2.4 rebounds per game and had 23 assists, 23 steals and eight blocks.
In conference play, Rhone averaged 11.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
She made 30 3-pointers and hit 37 percent from long range and 77 percent from the foul line. She led the Tigerhawks with 20 assists, tied for the team lead with 16 steals and had six blocks.
Atwood was the Tigerhawks’ second-leading scorer and top rebounder. She averaged six points and 7.2 rebounds per game while finishing with a team-high 25 steals as well as 18 assists and eight blocks.
Atwood shot 34 percent from the floor and 49 percent from the foul line.
In conference play, Atwood scored 5.7 points per game and grabbed seven boards per contest.
She made 34 percent of her shots from the floor and connected on 44 percent from the foul line.
Atwood tied for the team lead with 16 steals, tallied 14 assists and blocked six shots.
Underwood averaged 3.4 points and 1.1 rebounds per game while dishing out 17 assists and collecting 15 steals. She shot 22 percent from the floor and 59 percent from the line.
In conference play, Underwood scored 2.9 points per game and grabbed 1.1 rebounds per tilt.
She had 12 assists and 11 steals and shot 20 percent from the floor and 59 percent from the line.
