Matthew “Matt” L. Webb, Jr., 49, of Newton, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at MercyOne Des Moines. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Newton Christian School may be left at the funeral home.
Matt, the son of Matthew and Marilee (Taylor) Webb, Sr., was born Aug. 28, 1969, in Spokane, Wash. When Matt was very young, the family to Newton to be closer to family. Matt graduated from Newton High School in 1988 and attended DMACC. He worked at Burger King in Newton from the time it opened until 2016. In 2017, he began working in customer service for Windstream. Many people knew Matt around town, because he would walk to the store, to work or anywhere he needed to go. Matt enjoyed building models, playing video games and watching NASCAR.
Matt is survived by his mother, Marilee Willis of Shenandoah; step-mother, Kathleen Webb of Newton; siblings, Melissa Willis of Shenandoah, Brian Willis of Elkhorn, Neb., David (Laura) Webb of Newton, John (Laura) Webb of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Deborah (Jason) Brittain of Montour; and his nieces and nephews, Marq, Xander, Nathan, Zach, Katie, Abigail, Tucker, Jennifer, Harlie, Jessica and Dakota. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Webb, Sr. in 2016; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
