• Nathan J. Greene, 34, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication at 3:01 p.m. Monday. According to Newton police, officers were called to the 500 block of East 17th Street South for a male passed out in a laundry room. Upon arrival, officers found Greene laying on the floor next to an alcoholic beverage container. When he awoke, Greene stood up swaying back and forth with blood shot eyes and slurred speech. After failing sobriety tests, Greene was transported to Jasper County Jail.

• Aaron R. Thompson, 38, of Newton, was charged with second-degree harassment, assault, providing false identification information, consumption of alcohol in a public place and interference with official acts at 5:48 a.m. Tuesday. According to Newton police, officers were sent to the 500 block of First Street South for males arguing. While traveling there, officers spotted Thompson running north with a can of beer, and then turned west after spotting patrol vehicles. Thompson refused orders to stop several times before tripping and falling in to a snow drift, resulting in blood and cuts on his face. After resisting further instructions from officers by drinking the can of beer in front of them, Thompson was forcefully arrested while issuing threats. Thompson was transported to Jasper County Jail.
