Yoga at the Library

6 p.m. Monday — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory yoga class for adults. No experience necessary. Attendees are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This class is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. Call 641-792-4108 to register.

Library Closed for
Thanksgiving Holiday

The Newton Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular library hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Tuesday Tea with Austen

10 a.m. Nov. 27 — Join us for the first meeting of our Jane Austen book club. The November book is “Pride and Prejudice.” Copies of the book may be requested at the library information desk. Tea and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend. For more information, contact the library at 641-792-4108.

Bob Ross Paint-Along

6 p.m. Nov. 29 — Make a “happy little accident” at the library. Join us for an adult painting program where we follow along with Bob Ross and his “Joy of Painting” television program. All materials provided, attendees are encouraged to bring an apron. This program requires a ticket to attend. You may pick up your free ticket Nov. 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Ages 18 and older.

Personal Safety with the
Newton Police Department

6 p.m. Dec. 4 — Investigations Sergeant Chris Wing of the Newton Police Department shares professional tips on keeping your home and family safe from crime. Topics will include home and vehicle security, personal safety, and services offered by the Newton Police Department. This program is free to attend and open to the public.

Tintinnabulation Handbell Concert

6 p.m. Dec. 5 — Join us at the library for an evening of holiday music with the Jasper County Tintinnabulation handbell ensemble. All ages welcome. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
