NPD asks for public’s help in vehicle-on-child accident

The Newton Police Department is seeking information relating to a Monday afternoon vehicle accident, where police say an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car in the 600 block of North Sixth Avenue East.

According to a statement on the department's Facebook page Monday night, the boy was struck by what authorities believe could be a white Pontiac driven by what appeared to be a teenage male around 2:30 p.m. Police said the driver stopped and checked on the condition of the child after the accident and may have believed the child was not injured prior to leaving the scene.
