Lynnville-Sully volleyball falls to No. 14 HLV

VICTOR — Lynnville-Sully’s Hawks continue to be efficient from the service line on the volleyball court. The Hawks went 54-of-59, 91.5 percent, against Class 1A No. 14 HLV on Monday.

The Warriors were a little better overall on their home court against the Hawks in South Iowa Cedar League play. HLV beat Lynnville-Sully 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.

Junior Mallory Loftus led the Hawks in serving, going 16-of-17 with two ace serves. Sophomore Korinne Jansen was perfect at the service line, 11-of-11, with one ace and senior Shiloh Cunningham had one ace as she was 9-of-10 serving.

Defensively, senior Carson Fisk and junior Janelle Rozendaal came up with 11 digs apiece. Cunningham and senior Makayla Rozendaal had eight digs each. Jansen had six digs.

Sophomore Denali Conover had four digs, Loftus had three digs and sophomore Krystal Van Dyke had two digs.

Loftus delivered four kills at the net and put up two solo blocks. Cunningham made three solo blocks at net and Van Dyke had three solos and two assisted blocks. Cunningham and Van Dyke each had three kills.

Jansen and Fisk had two kills apiece.

Lynnville-Sully fell to 0-2 in SICL after facing two ranked teams in conference play. The Hawks (4-5) take on a third straight ranked team at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Class 1A No. 8 Montezuma.
