Lila Lee (Hoy) Main, 82, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at home in the care of her family.
She was born March 28, 1936, in Rhodes, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Pike) Hoy. She grew up in Rhodes, and later moved to Colfax. She attended the Rhodes Community School and graduated from the Colfax Community School in 1953.
Lila married John “Jack” Larry Main Jan. 1, 1953, in Colfax. Lila was a loving wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home mother, besides a few years working at Vernon’s in Newton, and Globe Machinery in Des Moines. She retired from Mitchell Village Care Center as a CNA after 30 years.
She was a member of the United Church of God in West Des Moines. A few things she enjoyed include gardening, reading, scrapbooking and genealogy. Mostly, however, she enjoyed spending time with her children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She will be remembered as someone who was always full of laughter, compassion and kindness.
Those who will cherish her memory are her three daughters, Robin (Pat) Conley of Tabor, Lorretta (Brett) Monteleone of Dallas, Iowa, and Jill (Tim) Nutter of Colfax; eight grandchildren, Sean (Jessica) Conley of Tabor, Ryan Conley of Delmar, Megan (Bradley) Jones of Melcher, IA, Kylie (Brandon) Johnson of Knoxville, IA, Makenzie (Ronnie) Durham of Melcher, A.J. Long of Montezuma, Katelyn Long of Cedar Rapids, and Olivia Long of Oskaloosa; sister, Connie (Marv) Carlyle of Colfax; sisters-in-law, Kitty Hoy of Chesapeake, Va., and Connie (Marv) Dixon of Mesa, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Walter (Norma) Main of St. Charles, Mo.; and many other great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Main; brother, Lyle Hoy; and sister-in law, Phyllis Hoy.
