Judy K. Sutphin

Judy K. Sutphin, 72, of Newton died on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. Avisitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Judy’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Judy, the daughter of Raymond Dale and Marian (St. John) Sutphin, was born on July 31, 1945 in Newton and grew up in the Jasper County area. She graduated from Newton High School in 1964 and took many college classes. Judy lived in Des Moines for many years before moving back to Newton. Most recently, Judy worked as an ActivityDirector and Dietary Supervisor at area nursing homes. She attended Cowboy Church and enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends.

Those left to honor Judy’s memory are her mother, Marian Sutphin of Newton; children, Milissa Ford of Des Moines, Melinda (Joel) Woody of Kellogg, Timothy (Tammy) Gobb of Newton, and Theresa (Fred) Elifritz of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Allan Kennedy, Cassandra Campa, Samantha Rumbaugh, Katelynn Rumbaugh, Vanessa Wisecup, Timothy Gobb, Jr., and Tania Roeth; her eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Nancy) Sutphin of Missouri and Dan(Fran) Sutphin) of Newton; and her cat, Patches. She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers, Duane and Randy Sutphin; and a niece, Tania Sutphin.
