Joyce Vander Linden passed away Feb. 9, 2018. She was born July 1, 1933, in Paris, Mo., to Marion Dean DeLaney and Ruth Gray DeLaney. Joyce was educated in the Paris public schools, graduated in 1951, and continued her education at Drury College in Springfield, Mo., then transferred to Northeast Missouri State. Later the name was changed to Truman State. This is where she met her future husband, Donald Vander Linden in 1954. While teaching, she continued working toward her degree at William Penn College receiving her degree in 1961.
She retired after 37 years of teaching, the last 24 in the Newton Elementary Schools and went by the name of Mrs. Van. She and Don moved to Peoria, Ariz. in 1995.
Joyce is survived by her husband Don of Peoria, Ariz.; her daughter, Kim Koeppen of White Bear Lake, Minn.; her son, Daniel of Imperial Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Marie Morant of El Cajon, Calif., Donald James Vander Linden of Imperial Beach, Calif., and Salli Andrea Koeppen of White Bear Lake, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, June; and her beloved son-in law, Steven Paul Koeppen.
