Patricia Ann Spellman

Patricia Ann (Aller) Spellman, the daughter of Harold and Mary Genevieve (King) Aller, was born Jan. 14, 1935. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines.

On Nov. 20, 1952, Pat was united in marriage with William Alan Spellman in Des Moines. Pat retired from the Jasper County Recorder’s Office. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as president of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed participating in their Chat-a-bit and Crafts Clubs. She was involved in the local and international chapters of the Toastmistress Club and the League of Women Voters, serving as president of each of these local chapters.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Alan; her son, William Robert; and her brother, Robert King Aller. Pat is survived by her daughters, Sue (Darrell) Ely and Sharil (Barri) VanNote; her grandchildren, Shawna Forst and Amy (Colin) Van Drimmelin; her great-grandchildren, Emmalin and Carter Forst and Hagen Van Drimmelin; her sisters-in-law, Susan Aller and Carol Saunders, M.D.; a niece, Karen (DJ) Robbins; and several nephews.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the United Methodist Women and may be left at the funeral home.
