Art Exhibit and Sale at NSN Wildlife Refuge

The Friends of Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge have received a generous donation of 18 Maynard Reece artist’s proofs.

The public is invited to an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. All of the prints will be on display in the Ding Darling Gallery at the Prairie Learning Center through Nov. 12. The art will be for sale during this event Nov. 6. Refreshments will be served.

Maynard Reece is a wildlife artist from Des Moines, who has won the Federal Duck Stamp Contest five times His work has appeared in many magazines and he has illustrated a number of books, including “The Waterfowl Art of Maynard Reece” and “The Upland Bird Art of Maynard Reece.” His paintings have been on display throughout the United States and Canada.

The prints in this exhibit cover a wide array of subjects including waterfowl, birds, animals, covered bridges. A special print is an original of the 1959 winning Federal Duck Stamp. Attend this special event and view an amazing collection from this influential Iowa artist.
