Newton Police Department

• Omaira D. Martinez, 42, of Des Moines, is charged with operating while under the influence after police received a call just before 5 a.m. Oct. 9 of a driver in a black Ford Escape traveling eastbound on Interstate 80. According to officials, Martinez crossed the center line and she was pulled over at exit 168. Martinz appeared dazed and confused and failed a sobriety test.

• April Ann Wilcox, 37, of Newton, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. Wednesday at 1020 E. 12th St. N. on a warrant out of Altoona for third-degree theft.

• Randy G. Dickerson, 30, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication after police responded to a call at 9:52 p.m. Friday in reference to a suspicious man sitting in a parked vehicle yelling and honking the horn in the 800 block of South Sixth Avenue East. Police found Dickerson in the driver’s seat of a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. Dickerson admitted to being drunk, adding he wasn’t driving and claimed to not have the keys.

• Anthony R. Strange, 20, of Newton, was arrested on a warrant out of Jasper County for failure to appear. An officer stopped him in the 600 block of East Fifth Street North at 1:35 p.m. Friday as he was riding a bicycle and pulling another bicycle.

• Scott A. Stewart, 39, of Newton, was stopped in his vehicle at 6:06 p.m. Friday for incorrect license plates. Stewart also had a suspended license and no insurance.

• Nyumah K. Peter, 20, of Altoona, was charged with driving with a suspended license when police stopped the vehicle his was driving in the 100 block of North 19th Avenue East for speeding.
