Chapter K-EN

Chapter K-EN of the T.T.T. society met at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in the home of Jane Johnson. Heidi Holley served as co-hostess. Eleven members were present.

The camp committee reported they are considering taking the girls out for dinner and to attend ‘‘Elf’’ at the Altoona children’s theater during the holidays. Carolyn Hobbs had visited our members at Park Centre and taken them Halloween treats.

The group will make cheese balls to sell Nov. 15. All supplies have been ordered and anyone can purchase from members for $7 each.

The group will continue to look for a holiday fair to sell any that are not sold in advance. Val McKee read a letter from the national office thanking us for input on the camp fund issue. They continue to look at options to keep the project viable.

The officers from last year all agreed to stay on for another year.

Members are encouraged to think about serving in an office next year when they would need to change again. The meeting finished with refreshments.

Kellogg Garden Club

Jenny Thompson, a local dietitian, presented the program on the nutritious winter squash at the September meeting of the Kellogg Garden Club. She told of the nutrition from squash and suggested ways to prepare them.

The retaining wall west of the Kellogg City Hall has been rebuilt. The club is revamping the plantings there. Members continue to weed and tend the flower beds at the triangle, City Hall, the library and park gazebo.

The group is especially proud of the library Knock Out roses which have bloomed all summer.
