After guiding the Colfax-Mingo girls basketball team for the past three seasons, Michelle Grant has decided to step down.
The Colfax-Mingo Board of Education approved the resignation of Grant as girls basketball coach during its monthly meeting on Monday.
Grant’s decision to step down directly involved a teaching promotion.
“I took over the high school band, so now I’m the 7-12 band/vocal director and the only music director in our building,” Grant said. “Coaching in the winter will be difficult will the added responsibility,”
Grant will remain as Colfax-Mingo’s volleyball coach. She has been in that role for the past two seasons after spending two seasons as the junior high volleyball coach.
Zach Tomas, who takes over as activities director at Colfax-Mingo in July, said the position will be posted online now that the board has approved the resignation.
“We will certainly miss Coach Grant in that role but understand her concern for time commitments as her teaching duties change,” Tomas said. “Our next coach is taking the reigns of a team that has a lot of talent and is trending upwards.”
