Hammer earns Eagle Scout status

Brandon Hammer, Boy Scout Troop 346, was given a couple of project options for his Eagle Scout Service Project after meeting with the Baxter City Council. He selected the project of locating the water shut-off valves around Baxter. After the F5 tornado struck Parkersburg, it was identified that being able to local the water valves at residential homes was a critical concern.

In the event of a natural disaster, timing can be critical to local and shut off the water to avoid draining the towns water supply.

Through Brandon’s Eagle Scout Service Project, they were able to local and mark 310 water shutoff valves. As you drive through Baxter, look for the blue marking on the curbs.
