More than 4,500 people were affected by a power outage that occurred late Wednesday morning.
According to Alliant Energy’s website, a power outage began at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in eastern Newton, along First Avenue East and in nearby neighborhoods, lasting about 20 minutes.
Spokesman Justin Foss of Alliant Energy said a crew was working on a substation and ran into some unexpected problems. The outage was quickly resolved, and no further interruptions are expected.
