COLO — The Collins-Maxwell/Baxter girls golf team shot its best score of the season Monday during a home triangular at Twin Anchors Golf Club.

The Raiders, though, are still trying to figure out how to avoid the big number.

CMB shot a season-best 216 but trailed Roland-Story by two strokes. Bondurant-Farrar finished third with a 228.

“It was not each of the girls’ best round of the year but collectively it was our best team score,” CMB coach Zach Hasselbrink said. “It sounds like a broken record, but once again, each of the girls had one or two holes that they wish they could get back.”

The Raiders were led by Abbie Ericson and Brynne Pritchard, who both shot a 50.

Ericson began her round with a par on the par 3 No. 2. Her round included two sevens and three sixes.

Pritchard had three straight sixes during her round. Her one bad hole was the eight she shot on the par 4 No. 1.

Courtney Clapper had a counting score of 56. She had a par on the par 3 No. 2 but her first hole and last hole created some trouble. She shot an 11 on the par 4 No. 1 and carded a nine on the par 4 No. 9.

The final counting score for CMB was a 60 from Katie Garber. Payton Cory turned in a 66, while Jaydan Moffet finished with a 90.

“I was proud of each of the girls for their resilience,” Hasselbrink said. “They all bounced back after big numbers. I think we are getting stronger at the mental part of the game as the year progresses. This round was a great way to head into our conference meet on Wednesday.”

Roland-Story had the top two individual scores. Sydney Weaver earned medalist honors with a 47, while Sydney Mathis carded a 48. Pritchard, Ericson and Bondurant-Farrar’s Briley Hick tied for third with 50s.

The Raiders play in the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
