Jacquelin Mae Osborn, the daughter of Dwight Edward Burns and Lena Leona (Funk) Burns, was born Oct. 25, 1933, at her maternal grandparents home in Mingo. She was united in marriage to John Ralph Osborn in September 1951.
Jacquelin was a devoted wife and mother and a wonderful cook. Her careers included being a homemaker, a bookkeeper at Lloyd’s Bookkeeping, a cook at Embassy Nursing Home in Newton and a Campfire Girls leader. In later years, Jacquelin was a caregiver to both her mother-in-law Violet Osborn and her mother Leona (Funk) Burns. She was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church and Satellite Circle.
Jacquelin died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the home of her granddaughter Arvetta (Shane) Browning at 4666 Stonebridge Road in West Des Moines. She was preceded in death by both her parents; step-mother Helen Burns; and her daughter-in-law Rhonda Osborn.
Those left to honor Jacquelin’s memory include her three children, Joanne (Jim) Dannels of Newton, John of Mingo, Julia (Vernon) Stodden of West Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; her siblings Donald (Barbra) Burns of Wisconsin and Barbra (Chuck) Colbert of Eldridge; and several other relatives and close friends.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Mingo United Methodist Church, 202 W. Main St. in Mingo.
