• Brandon H. Cornelison, 34, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree theft after authorities pulled him over at 11:48 p.m. Feb. 9 in the 500 block of First Avenue East. Officers made contact with Cornelison, who had a warrant for the theft of a phone worth $150. While searching the vehicle, officers found a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine with burnt residue in it. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Therron E. Smith, 27, of Newton, is charged with disorderly conduct after authorities were called at 12:27 a.m. Thursday to 1022 E. 12th St. N. Officers were called about an intoxicated man pounding on an apartment door. Officers made contact with Smith who smelled of alcohol and was very loud and vocal. He was told to stay in his apartment and not bother the victim. Officers were called back after Smith began banging on the walls. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Kenneth L. Rodgers, 22, of Colfax, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 10:32 p.m. Feb. 9 at the intersection of South Eighth Avenue West and Fourth Street South. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Shane M. Chesshire, 39, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant after authorities were called at 11:47 p.m. Sunday to Hy-Vee. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Michael D. Cassady, 37, of Newton, is charged with eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 7:03 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North 13th Avenue West. Officers attempted to pull over Cassady’s vehicle after seeing it did not have a headlight functioning. Cassady did not stop until he reached a drive way, which he said was because he knew his license was suspended. When searching the vehicle officers found two glass pipes, one with marijuana residue in it and one with methamphetamine residue in it. Officers also found two pills that were not Cassady’s. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Samantha L. Brown, 31, of Newton, was arrested on two warrants, one from Wapello County and one from Fairfield after authorities were called at 6:38 p.m. Friday to 900 E. 12th St. N. Officers made contact with Brown, who said her name was Christy Clark. Officers knew her identity and placed her under arrest. While trying to handcuff Brown, she pulled her hand away and officers had to push her into the side of the vehicle to get her under control. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Trent R. Williams, 28, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities were called at 6:38 p.m. Friday to 900 E. 12th St. N. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Michael F. Illingworth, 30, of Newton, is charged with consumption/intoxication in public places after authorities were called at 4:11 a.m. Sunday to the 100 block of First Street North. Officers were called about an intoxicated man and found Illingworth. He was having trouble walking and officers could smell alcohol and saw he had a bloodshot eye. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Robert Rodriguez, 36, is charged with operating while under the influence, driving while license denied, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container after authorities were called at 1:19 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of East Fourth Street North. Officers found Rodriguez asleep while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. He would not respond to verbal commands and only woke up after the vehicle’s door was opened. He had slow speech and while returning to the vehicle to run his driver’s license, he started his vehicle and began to drive away. After stopping, he was placed under arrest. While searching the vehicle officers found a glass marijuana pipe and an empty 40 ounce bottle of beer. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
