I have been impressed by the environmental impact mitigation plans that have been presented by Dakota Access during the project’s review process. Evaluating the environmental effects of a large-scale infrastructure project like the Dakota Access Pipeline is incredibly important and it is evident that the company has gone to great lengths to do just that. Energy infrastructure is critical to our everyday lives, but these needs must be met in a responsible manner that preserves our land and protects valuable ecosystems.
As a native Iowan and avid outdoorsman, I have been closely following the Dakota Access project and specifically, the company’s detailed commitment to minimize environmental impacts. It is easy to demonize pipelines, but the reality is, when done right, these essential infrastructure projects can peacefully coexist with the natural backdrop.
