Debra Ketchum

Debra “Deb” Ketchum, 55, of Baxter, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Baxter Community Center. A memorial service will follow the visitation and begin at 11 a.m. A private family burial will be at a later date.

Deb was born March 6, 1960, to John and Marilyn (Smith) Miner in Longmont, Colo. She attended school in Otis, Colo., and graduated in 1979. After high school Deb completed two years of college and obtained her LPN. On Aug. 31, 1994, she married Johnnie Ketchum and the couple relocated to Baxter, and raised their family there. Deb’s greatest joy was taking care of others and putting others first. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Her other hobbies included family get togethers, gardening, farming, working and spending time with the residents of Baxter Care Center.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children, Kelly (James) Reichart, Kari (Jon) Kendall, Karen (Jordan) Stevens and Michael Ketchum; her grandchildren, Kirsten, Devon, Tyler, Emmalee, Trinity and Mia; her brothers, Walter Miner, Jack Miner, Billy (Kim) Miner and Corey (Annalisa) Miner; and many nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Deb and her family.
