The Newton YMCA has announced that Rhonda Robson has been named associate executive director.
Robson is a friendly and familiar face at the YMCA. She served as wellness director at the Newton YMCA for seven years before transferring to the Ankeny YMCA where she held the position of senior program director for five years. Whether she was working in Newton or Ankeny, Robson has always continued to work at the Newton Y part-time as a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor.
“When the position of associate executive director became available, it was an easy decision to apply for the job. I am humbled and honored to have been chosen to work in the community I love,” Robson said.
Robson is a longtime Newton resident. She is married to Newton native, Chad Robson who, for the past seven years has led one of our most popular early morning classes — boot camp. Together, they are raising five children ranging from ages 15 to 23. Working back in her hometown community will afford the Robsons more time to do what they love the most — spending time together as a family.
Robson serves as faculty for the YMCA of the USA for multiple certifications. Her knowledge, experience, dedication and enthusiasm along with her passion for developing and maintaining a diverse selection of exercises classes will be an asset to our entire organization.
