JCC to host Junior Naturalist program for area youth in July

The Jasper County Conservation Board is offering the Junior Naturalist program for area boys and girls from July 7-10 and July 13-15, according to Katie Cantu and Greg Oldsen of the Jasper County Conservation department. This program is designed to teach youth about the outdoors as well as maining a learning environment throughout the summer.

Various outdoor related subjects will be covered such as habitat, art in the park, archery, GPS, pond life, fish and much more. The activities will be outdoors at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve on July 7 to 10 and at the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League clubhouse in Newton on July 13 to 15.

The Junior Naturalist program is open to youth ages 8 to 12 years old. The programs will be held from 9 to 11a.m. on all days. Participants should wear outdoor clothing and older shoes.
