SULLY — Lynnville-Sully’s baseball team made a turnaround quick. The Hawks faced second-place standing English Valleys in South Iowa Cedar League play at home Tuesday.
“What a difference 24 hours can make,” said Bob Scandridge, Lynnville-Sully head coach, following 1 4-1 win over English Valleys. The Hawks were coming off two SICL losses where they had been outscored 21-2 and had just three hits.
“We got good pitching from Jake Brand Monday against Iowa Valley, but struggled in the field, Scandridge said. “Tonight, Tyler Van Zante pitched a good game, and the defense responded by making the plays needed to hold EV to one run.
“This was a good confidence game for this team after two tough loses.”
Scandridge said there were technical problems with the statistical program and did not have game statistics available.
Lynnville-Sully (9-6, 8-5) hosts Keota Wednesday in a 6 p.m. SICL contest.
