A 21-year-old Newton man was transported to a hospital following a late night incident in which a vehicle struck a pedestrian.
Newton Police and paramedics were called to 1420 N. Fourth Ave. E. at approximately 11:40 p.m. Saturday.
Anthony Dewey was transported by ambulance to Skiff Medical Center with injuries sustained in the incident. A medical helicopter was called, but it was unable to fly due to weather, according to the police report. Dewey’s condition was not available at press time.
The driver, 20-year-old Aksel Joy, of Iowa City, has not been charged.
Police said in a news release issued Tuesday morning that the investigation is ongoing.
