Lillie Mae (Stark) Hassig, 90, of Newton died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Careage of Newton. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 13 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Friday. Memorials to the First Baptist Church in Newton may be left at the funeral home.

Lillie, the daughter of Jesse Davis and Elizabeth Jane (Harmon) Stark, was born on May 20, 1924, in Licking, Mo. She grew up in Licking, and graduated from Licking High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Newton. Lillie was united in marriage with Clifford Hassig on Aug. 5, 1948, in Kingman, Kan. She was a homemaker. Lillie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, and enjoyed doing puzzles and word searches, crafting and flower gardening.

Those left to honor Lillie’s memory are her son, Clark (Debbie) Hassig of Newton; grandson, Dalton Hassig of Newton; her three sisters, Georgia Farrow of Pueblo, Colo., Ruth Harger of Missouri City, Texas, and Ona Hassig of Newton; and many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and nephews including her niece, Dran (Stan) Burt of Newton and their three sons, Mason, Micah and Tyler Burt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford Hassig in 1999; a brother; and three sisters.
