Edna Arleen Cushatt

Edna Arleen (Schomer) Cushatt, 83, of Newton, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. There was a private family service. Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Arleen was born Dec. 21, 1931, to Everett and Arleen (Moore) Algyre in Cherokee. She was united in marriage with Paul Cushatt and they traveled the world as a military family. After retirement they returned to Newton.

Those left to honor Arleen’s memory are her son, Michael (Phyllis) Cushatt; three daughters, Paula Blevins, Mari Beth (Ken) Polson, and Rita Nearmyer; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Cushatt; son, Ronald Cushatt; and two brothers, Warren (Iva Lou) Schomer and Donald Schomer.
