IADA scholarships for automotive students now available

WEST DES MOINES — Students interested in pursuing a career in the auto industry can apply for one of up to fifteen $2,000 scholarships offered by the Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education. The scholarship application and guidelines can be downloaded from IADA.com and are due by 5 p.m. March 2.

“Dealerships provide some of the best paying jobs in communities around Iowa, and as automobiles — and the industry — become more high tech, having an educated workforce is more important than ever,” said Mary Cason, executive vice president of the foundation. “The Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education is committed to helping make school more affordable for future dealership employees so they can get the education needed to fill those jobs.”

Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of a career in an automobile dealership. Potential career paths include working as an automotive, diesel, or collision repair technician; salesperson; accountant; marketing specialist; or in business administration.

Recipients of the scholarships will be announced in May 2015.

The Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education is a non-profit entity established in 1995 by the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association. The IAD Foundation’s mission is to support educational, research and charitable activities that positively impact the automotive industry. Since 1998, the Foundation has awarded more than 200 scholarships to students across Iowa.
