Daughters of the American Revolution Grinnell Chapter

The May 11 meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution Grinnell Chapter was called to order by Regent Darlene Leib in the Mayflower room at Montgomery Lounge in Grinnell with 17 members present and five guests present.

Regent Leib led the opening Ritual and Pledge of Allegiance, and Vice Regent Kris Macy led the American Creed. Chaplain Rethmeier gave devotions.

The Good Citizen winners and their families were served brunch, and the awards were given to first place winner Gabriella Daft of Newton Senior High School and runner-up to Stephanie Petted of Basic & Beyond Alternative High School. Macy read the president general’s message. National Defense Report was read by Suzanne Van Zandt. Registrar Report was 59 members with two applications are pending at National; two more applications have been sent. Lelah Main gave a Flag Minute, and Barbara Jones give a Conservation Report. Linda Hatch reported on the DAR Schools, and Bobbie Collins give a Sunshine Report. Jeanette Shannon and husband will be attending Continental Congress in Washington, D.C., June 26-30.
