Carroll’s Pumpkin Farm near Grinnell is slowly making a transition to Uncle Bill’s Farm.
Bill Owen purchased the farm last April from Danny Carroll and has been making a few changes but wants to maintain the wholesome atmosphere.
“The feel of the place we hope will not change,” Owen said. “We want to stay family-oriented.”
Lily the donkey and Elton the mule are new additions. A shelter house was created out of a garage so parents can better watch their kids. The corn maze is bigger and better than last year, and a nursery rhyme theme is carried throughout the farm. Other features will include an occasional flea market, an antique tractor show and other forms of entertainment throughout the winter months.
Hours for Uncle Bill's Farm are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and Sundays 1 to 7 p.m. The farm will be open through Oct. 31. For admission fees and more information about the pumpkin farm, visit www.carrollspumpkinfarm.com.
“On Nov. 1, nobody wants a pumpkin,” Owen said.
