A Sully teen was pinned under her pickup truck Thursday after spinning out of control on a gravel road and sliding into a ditch seven miles east of Sully.
According to a report from the Jasper County Sheriff's office, 15-year-old Bayli D. Coleman lost control of her 1988 Chevy 2500 pickup on Seneca Street at 1:25 p.m. while driving southbound into a curve. Investigators said the teen was not speeding but was traveling too fast to negotiate the turn, spun and entered the ditch coming to a rest on the truck's driver's side. Authorities report that the car window was open prior to the accident, and Coleman's left arm was pinned underneath the vehicle.
The teen sustained non-life threatening injuries to her arm and leg and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines by Mercy One Air Ambulance. Rescue crews had to free her from the wreckage.
Coleman told deputies that she was in a hurry to return to work at a daycare facility in Sully after dropping her sister off at their home. An investigation into the accident is still pending.
