Heather Kimay Eckhart and Jean Lucien McComsey were married on Aug. 13, 2011, in the atrium of the Sheraton West Des Moines.
Pastor Dan Hayton of Newton Grace Church officiated at the 5:30 p.m. ceremony before 100 family and friends. A dinner and dance followed in the ballroom of the Sheraton.
Heather is the daughter of Keith and Mary Ann Eckhart of Newton. Jean is the son of the late Harold and Cecile McComsey of Queensbury, N.Y.
Heather wore a duchess satin mermaid gown. The tank top bodice was embroidered with silver thread highlighted with crystals, beads and sequins. The detachable cathedral train was highlighted with the same trim. She carried a long-stemmed bouquet of red roses, white roses and baby lime green chrysanthemums.
The matron of honor was Kristina Wittrock, sister of the bride. The best man was Amit Patil, friend of the groom. Kathryn Wittrock, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Flower girls were Emma and Ella Eckhart, nieces of the bride. The bride’s nephew, Luke Wittrock, served as ring bearer. Resa Eckhart assisted as personal attendant. Special music during the ceremony was sung by Heath Eckhart, brother of the bride.
Heather is a 1991 graduate of Newton Senior High School. Her undergraduate work was completed at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., in 1995. She received her master of science degree in occupational therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1997. Jean graduated from Queensbury High School in Queensbury, N.Y., in 1990. He received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1995 from the State University of New York in Utica, N.Y.
Heather and Jean reside in Aurora, Ill. She is employed as an occupational therapist with Aurora Rehabilitation and Living Center in Aurora, Ill. Jean is director of manufacturing and quality with Engineered Custom Lubricants in Aurora, Ill.
