Giving it the old college try

Three Newton High School graduates are members of the 2011 Simpson College soccer team. (From left) Mike Flanagan, Brian Newton and Mark Lahart — 2009 NHS grads — were starters for the Storm this season. The team placed third in the Iowa Conference, its best finish in 10 years. While playing for Newton, the trio was coached by Dr. Pat Edwards and Tim Heger.
