Berg Middle School students make art to benefit the CAA

0

Seventy Berg Middle School students enrolled in Darren Hurt’s Art classes took on a community service project this winter that also allowed them to learn more about stoneware pottery. Each of the students constructed and glazed a bowl that will be offered for sale at the Centre for Arts and Artists (CAA) soup supper fundraiser this Saturday at the CAA at 501 West Third Street North from 4 to 7 p.m..

The CAA is a nonprofit organization that is starting its fourth year of operation. It is funded by rent payments for offices and studio spaces and through the generosity of patrons, area foundations, and other grants organizations.

“Experiences in creative activity provide a sense of health and well being for all who participate,” CAA Executive Director Linda Klepinger said. “CAA provides a forum for validation of their efforts. We are so very grateful to both Darren Hurt and his fine students for their excellent work. The fundraiser will provide important help in our efforts to provide quality arts experiences to more Newton students and community members.”
