• Tamara N. Coker, 21, of Newton was charged with two counts of forgery/fraud with intent to defraud, intentionally pass or redeem a lottery ticket and/or a theft of lottery tickets Tuesday. The report states Coker was an employee at Git-N-Go, located at 801 First Ave. W., during the time of the theft of 210 lottery tickets, 50 of which were winners but only two of which were redeemed. Police said Robert L. Mayfield, 22, of Newton was also charged with the same two counts as Coker. In addition to the charges listed above, Coker was also charged with third-degree theft for taking the lottery tickets. The two tickets Coker and Mayfield redeemed were worth $50 and $32. Both individuals were released to appear in court.
• Justin W. Dekoning, 20, of Newton was arrested on a warrant at 12:10 p.m. Monday at 621 North Second Ave. W., Apt. B. The report states Dekoning had a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear in court for sentencing on a charge of interference with official acts. Dekoning was placed into custody and transported to jail.
• Joshua D. Stubbe, 22, of Newton was arrested on a warrant at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at 926 S. 12th Ave. W. The report states Stubbe had a Jasper County warrant for a probation violation on an original charge of operating while intoxicated. Stubbe was placed into custody and transported to jail.
• A 13-year-old male from Newton was charged with simple assault at 4:54 p.m. Monday at Emerson Hough Elementary, located at 700 N. Fourth Ave. E. The report states the suspect allegedly pushed a 7-year-old boy to the ground and then struck the victim. The suspect was referred to juvenile services.
• A 14-year-old female was charged with fifth-degree theft at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday at 411 N. Third Ave. E. The report states the suspect allegedly stole a bike from another girl. The bike, which has a value of $200, was found by police at Emerson Hough Elementary. The suspect was referred to juvenile services.

• Christopher P. Anderson, 39, of Newton was arrested on a warrant at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Jasper County Courthouse, located at 101 First St. N. The report states a deputy was alerted that an order revoking Anderson’s bond had been ordered. The deputy located Anderson, who had a court appearance, and waited until after the hearing to place him into custody and transport him to jail.
• Nicholas L. Cox, 19, of Newton turned himself in for arrest at 5:55 p.m. Monday at the Jasper County Jail. The report states Cox was wanted on a Jasper County warrant for a probation violation after an original charge of possession of marijuana.
• Ryan L. Ferkel, 24, of Blue Grass, Iowa, turned himself in for arrest at 2:21 p.m. Monday at the Jasper County Jail, located at 2300 Law Center Drive. The report states Ferkel was wanted on a Jasper County warrant for a parole violation.
• Lawrence M. Haws, 42, of Ankeny was charged with OWI, first offense, at 3:20 a.m. July 24 in the Midwest Manufacturing parking lot in Kellogg, located at 101 High St. The report states Haws’ vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and while talking to an officer he showed signs of intoxication. Haws at first denied drinking alcohol but later admitted he had consumed drinks during the afternoon. Haws was placed into custody and transported to jail, where a chemical test showed he had a BAC of .114.
• Jacob J.H. Kendall, 22, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended at 11:00 p.m. July 24 in the 6200 block of Highway 6 East. The report states Kendall’s vehicle was stopped for speeding and an identity check showed his license was suspended. Kendall was also charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs. Officers said they found a pill container holding a 10-milligram pill of hydrocodone and a 650 mg pill of Tylenol. Kendall was placed into custody and transported to jail.
• Jacob E. Kriegel, 18, of Grinnell was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11:24 p.m. July 23 on Jacob Avenue at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve. The report states Kriegel’s vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and while talking to an officer he admitted to drinking one and a half beers. Kriegel was placed into custody and transported to jail, where a chemical test showed he was below the legal limit for minors. He was released to appear in court.
• Candice N. Lagergren, 19, of Monroe was charged with OWI, first offense, at 1:41 a.m. July 18 at the 163 mile marker of Highway F-62 West. The report states Lagergren’s vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and while talking to an officer she showed signs of intoxication. Officers say Lagergen, who was also cited for open container, failed field sobriety tests before being placed into custody and transported to jail. A chemical test at the jail showed Lagergren had a BAC of .101. She was released to appear in court.
• Matthew N. Wilder, 52, of Prairie City was charged with aggravated domestic assault at 5:20 p.m. July 24 at 305 W. Fifth St., Apt. 6 in Prairie City. The report states Wilder walked into the residence, went straight into kitchen and took out a steak knife, then went toward a female who also lives in the apartment and started to make poking motions with knife in his hand. Officers allege Wilder then pulled the woman, twisting her arm, before knocking her to the ground. Wilder was placed into custody and transported to jail.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
