James L. “Jim” Klemm, 74, of Kellogg died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Iowa.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with Father William Reynolds and Deacon Dan Goetz offciating. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg, Iowa. Memorials to the Kellogg Fire Department or the Kellogg Historical Society may be left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service.

The son of Louis James and Frances Mary (Kelly) Klemm Sr., Jim was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1953, and on Sept. 7, 1957, Jim was united in marriage with Mary L. Davis in Grinnell, Iowa.

Jim was a factory worker at the Maytag Company in Newton for more than 31 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to that he worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg and also at the Parsons Company in Newton. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and was a lifelong resident of Jasper County.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary of Kellogg; two daughters, Kathy Klemm of Grinnell and Rhonda Lovett of Villa Rica, Ga.; two grandchildren, Leyna Noah and Bella Lovett; a brother, Louis (Deloris) Klemm of Kellogg; and a niece and nephew and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
