After Monday’s state tournament loss, a total of five Lynnville-Sully girls basketball players were given all-conference honors by the South Iowa Cedar League coaches.
One Lynnville-Sully player was named first-team all-conference — junior Tara Van Rees.
Entering the state tournament on Monday, Van Rees was second on the team with 9.7 points per game and led the team in made 3-pointers (38), free throws made (68), assists (84), steals (87) and blocks (14).
North Mahaska got two on the first team — Acacia LaRue and Hannah Ferguson — while Sigourney had senior post players Carolyn Holm and Stephani Atwood on the first team as well. Belle Plaine also had two selections — Taylor Schafbuch and Dani Coover.
Other selections to the first team were Iowa Valley’s Gina Svare, Keota’s Shelby Fagen, BGM’s Riley Gallagher, Montezuma’s Emily Long and Emily Warwick of English Valleys.
Coach of the year in the South Iowa Cedar League was North Mahaska’s L.E. Moore after his Warhawks posted a perfect 20-0 mark. The Golden Award went to HLV’s Misty Schafbuch.
Lynnville-Sully got two second-team selections — senior Mariah Terlouw and sophomore Brianna James.
Terlouw averaged 7.4 points per game while being second on the team in assists (43) and third in steals (52) entering the state tournament.
James led the team with 9.8 points per game and in total rebounds (148).
Two Lynnville-Sully players also were honorable mention selections — senior Tessa Engle and junior Danielle Samson.
Engle averaged 5.0 points per contest and was second on the team in steals (53), while Samson averaged 7.4 points a game and was second on the team in rebounds (120).
