• Twelve Newton residents were charged with possession of alcohol while under the legal age after authorities responded to a complaint of a loud party at 9:57 p.m. Friday at Sundance Apartments, 210 E. 28th St. N. #109. Authorities determined the residents of the apartment, 20-year-old Bren Denn Paul Eiland and 18-year-old Hillary S. Buckles, and their 10 guests allegedly had alcohol in their possession. The others charged included 17-year-old Adam J. Morrow, 17-year-old Katrina M. Hogan, 17-year-old Alyssa H. Arnett, 16-year-old Shyann R. Clark, 17-year-old Eric M. Pender, 19-year-old Breanna J. Sells, 19-year-old Tanner B. Jensen, 18-year-old Danette R. Ringgenberg, 18-year-old Samantha P. Thomas and 18-year-old Nicholas L. Cox. The adults were released on their own recognizance, and the juveniles were referred to Juvenile Court Services.

• William L. Clark III, 29, of Newton was arrested and charged with simple domestic assault after authorities responded to a 911 call at 1:13 p.m. Sunday at 500 E. 17th St. S. #21. Clark was charged for allegedly assaulting a Newton woman and was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Randi L. Hamilton, 28, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped her at 6:02 p.m. Saturday in the 2800 block of First Avenue East for a traffic violation and determined her license had been suspended. Hamilton also was cited for operation without registration and issued warnings for failing to use headlights and not having insurance. She was released on her own recognizance.

• David L. Smith, 53, of Newton was arrested and charged with public intoxication after authorities responded to a complaint at 1:53 a.m. Saturday of an individual causing a disturbance in front of the Scoreboard. Smith was located behind the bar, charged for allegedly being intoxicated and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
