Kaylene Nicole Ackerman and Chad David Coughennower were united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at the Sodexho-DMACC Newton Conference Center in Newton, Iowa.
Robin Coughennower, the groom’s step-mother, officiated during the 4 p.m. ceremony.
Terri Lawver, aunt of the bride, was the matron of honor, and Paige Lawver, cousin of the bride, was a bridesmaid. Kathleen Werner, cousin of the bride, was her personal attendant. Jason Coughennower, brother of the groom, was the best man, and Steve Coughennower, father of the groom, was a groomsman.
Guestbook attendants were Rylie Canfield, cousin of the bride, and Ellie Coughennower, niece of the groom. Ushers were Taylor Lawver, Clayton Stelk and Russ Canfield, cousins of the bride.
Special guests were Arlis Rex and Blanche Canfield of Grand Island, Neb., grandparents of the bride, and Marion and Edna Coughennower of Altoona, Iowa, grandparents of the groom.
A reception and dance — hosted by cousins of the bride, David and Rona Jacobsen of Dannebrog, Neb., and Rod and Candy Mapes of Omaha, Neb. — were held immediately following the ceremony at the Sodexho-DMACC Newton Conference Center.
Kaylene is the daughter of Gene and Charlene Ackerman of Baxter, Iowa. Kaylene graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School in 1998 and attended Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa. She is an assistant teacher for the Kindercare Learning Center in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Chad is the son of Steve and Robin Coughennnower of Des Moines, Iowa, and the late Laurie Coughennower of Des Moines. Chad graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 2000 and from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in 2006. He is an IT systems analyst for Principal Financial in Des Moines.
The couple’s honeymoon destination was the South Padre Islands, and they now reside in Altoona.
