COLFAX — Delmar L. Emmack, 66 of Colfax died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were today, Friday, Sept. 11, at the Prairie City United
Methodist Church, with burial at Metz Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Prairie City Public Library or Hospice of Jasper County and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Delmar George and Vivian Joy (Clark) Emmack, Delmar was born on Sept. 8, 1943, in Newton. He graduated from Monroe High School and attended Iowa State University for one year. On Oct. 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Burns at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

He served in the Iowa National Guard and farmed all of his life as well as working at Maytag for 20 years. Delmar loved to be in his garden, selling vegetable's at the downtown
Des Moines Farmers Market for 15 years as well as other farmers' markets. Spending time with his family was very important to Delmar, especially his kids, grandkids and riding his Gator with his dog Ruby.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 41 years, Mary; his children, Daphne Dawn (Charlie) Owens and Nathan Dale (Kirsten) Emmack, all of Colfax; and four grandchildren, Zoey, Blake, Tate and Jasper.

Preceding Delmar in death were his parents.
