Niki Ann Swank and John Morgan Whitacre, both of Newton, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Douglas and Terri Swank of Newton. She is a 1996 graduate of Newton Senior High School and has earned her bachelor’s degree in social work in 2000, her master’s degree in business and organizational management in 2004 and her law degree in 2008. She is currently employed as an assistant county attorney in Tama County.
Her fiancé is the son of James Whitacre of Newton and the late Connie Pickett. He is a 1990 graduate of Newton Senior High School and has completed an electrical apprenticeship program in 1996 to be a journeyman electrician. He is currently the vice-president of Jetco, Inc. in Altoona.
The couple is planning a Sept. 12 wedding at the First United Methodist Church in Newton.
