Rodney Glen Oliver, 58, of Newton, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at MercyOne in Des Moines. A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6 at the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences left at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of George and Marie (Borts) Oliver Bos, Rodney was born July 11, 1961, in Newton. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1980. He then went to Marshalltown Community College to earn a degree in diesel mechanics in 1981. On May 8, 1982, he was united in marriage to Glee Olsen. Rodney spent his entire life working on semis, having spent the last 29 years at Freightliner/Harrison Truck Center. Rodney enjoyed his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, going to races and hanging out with drunk and disorderly and the gang! He also loved riding his Harley.

Those left to honor his memory include his siblings, Anna (George) Evans, Tink (JR) Brant and Lois Oliver; his father, Kenneth Bos; stepbrother, Rich Cormeny; aunt and uncle, Ruby and Jerry Wylie; a special friend, Kim Shepley; and his six girls, Katie, Ashley, Mistie, Chelsie, Megan and Kristen. His love flowed for many other nieces and nephews and of course those great-nieces and nephews and great greats. Preceding him in death were his wife, Glee Oliver in 2019; mother, Marie Bos in May of 2020; his father, George Oliver; maternal and paternal grandparents; step-sister, Theresa Cormeny; brother-in-law, Gary Holaday; and a niece, Laura Champlin.
