U.S. Cellular renews race sponsorship at Iowa

Race times for NASCAR Xfinity, Truck series races for Iowa Speedway 2020 season are set

NASCAR had its 2019 championship races last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida.

Earlier this fall Iowa Speedway had several announcements about the 2020 season here in Newton.

Iowa Speedway announced the broadcast times and networks for the NASCAR Xfinity Seres and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series races for 2020. Iowa Speedway and U.S. Cellular, the fifth-largest full-service wireless carrier in the United States, announced a multi-year sponsorship renewal that will extend the relationship through 2021.

U.S. Cellular has been Iowa Speedway’s official wireless partner since 2006 and has served as the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 title sponsor since 2009.

“I tell people all the time that one of the great things about professional sports is the relationships you have a chance to develop over the years and I don’t know if there is a better example than what we have with U.S. Cellular,” Iowa Speedway President David Hyatt said.

“And what’s amazing is how it has continued through the years. U.S. Cellular is helping chart the future of Iowa Speedway and we get to build upon that foundation with enhanced focus and an even-stronger relationship.”

Next year will mark 15 years of racing at Iowa Speedway. For the fifth consecutive year, Wide Opening Weekend will feature both the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series on June 12-13, 2020.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Iowa 200 will be seen at 7:30 p.m. on FS1 and heard on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 on June 12.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Iowa 250 will air on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 at 7:30 p.m. on June 13.

“Iowa Speedway’s broadcast partners offer some of the most thorough and innovative coverage in all of sports,” Hyatt said. “We’re proud to partner again in 2020 with the FOX and NBC families of TV networks as well as offer outstanding radio coverage from MRN and the IMS Radio Network.

"Whether our fans are tailgating in the parking lot catching pre-race coverage or setting their DVRs to relive their race-day experiences when they get home, they are going to be thoroughly entertained and informed."
The ARCA Menards Series will be in action on July 17. The NTT IndyCar Series will return to the Fastest Short Track on the Planet for the Iowa 300, under the lights, on July 18, giving fans a full complement of stock car and open wheel racing during INDYCAR weekend.

The 2020 Iowa Speedway racing season concludes July 31 to Aug. 1 with another thrilling NASCAR doubleheader featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Iowa 150 and the NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250. The NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 will air on CNBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 on Aug. 1 beginning at 1 p.m.

U.S. Cellular has been a part of nearly every major moment in Iowa Speedway history including the inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 when Brad Keselowski passed Kyle Busch with eight laps to go to win at Iowa Speedway in 2009.

“U.S. Cellular is proud to have served as Iowa Speedway’s Official Wireless Partner since 2006, and we look forward to continuing this relationship for years to come,” said Mike Adams, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Iowa.

Start times and networks for the NTT IndyCar Series, ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races will be announced at a later date.
