Baxter volleyball wins fourth straight

BAXTER — Amber Weltha converted 17 of her 19 kill attempts and Baxter’s volleyball team served up 12 aces in a three-set win over GMG on Monday night.

The Bolts won their fourth straight match and improved to 4-0 in Iowa Star Conference South Division play with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-15 sweep of the Wolverines.

Weltha’s kill efficiency was .895. She also had seven digs, two blocks and three aces and was 13-of-14 in serves.

Kaitlyn Headlee tallied 28 assists and two aces, Sophie Meyer finished with nine kills, seven digs and five aces and Abbey Shepley had a team-high eight digs.

Hallee Rainsbarger tallied six kills and Bekka Watt and Sadie Meyer both had three kills. The Bolts’ kill efficiency as a team was .476. Sophie Meyer and Watt were both at .400 for the night.

Baxter (10-4) was 61-of-66 in serves. Sadie Meyer was 10-of-10, Sophie Meyer finished 17-of-18 and Headlee was 10-of-11.

The loss dropped GMG to 1-18 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

The Bolts and Class 1A No. 4 North Tama face off for an ISC South Division showdown at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Baxter.
